Las Vegas, NV – After a productive first term, Assemblyman Nelson Araujo has announced his plans to run for re-election in Nevada’s Assembly District 3.
“During the 78th Legislative Session, landmark pieces of legislation that will positively impact Nevadans were passed but there is still much work to be done,” Araujo said. “It has been humbling to represent the residents of Assembly District 3 and I am ready continue the fight for our community and putting Nevada’s families first.”
As a freshman in the Assembly, Araujo fought hard to ensure the voices of his constituents were heard. Araujo is proud to have sponsored three bills that were signed into law that protect Nevada’s youth and families.
Assemblyman Araujo’s dedication did not end with the Legislative Session; Araujo continues to be involved in his community by participating in forums and fighting to keep Nevada’s kids in school. He looks forward to the opportunity to continue serving the constituents of District 3.
A proud Las Vegas native, Araujo also serves as Senior Director of Collective Impact and Diversity at United Way of Southern Nevada. In his spare time, Araujo volunteers for various organizations dedicated to improving the lives of Nevadans through advocacy and activism.

With school back in session, (including my godson Noah, who started kindergarten this year!), Nevada's education system is once again at the forefront of everyday discussions. I have been a tireless advocate for education because I understand firsthand how important a quality education is to our state's future. As the first person in my family to graduate high school, I went on to attain a bachelor's and a master's degree - something that should be possible for all of Nevada's children.
I believe that working together, we can change a child's life through education. By fixing our school system and supporting the needs of our students, parents and educators, we will create a stronger, more vibrant Nevada. During the 2015 Legislative Session, I worked to help remove the barriers that make it hard for our children to succeed in school. I look forward to continue working on improving our education system and ensuring that every child has the tools they need to be successful.
Wow - It seems like just yesterday, that with the help of incredible friends like you, I was elected into the Nevada State Assembly. My experience during the 78th Legislative Session was both challenging and rewarding.
Together, we were able to pass landmark pieces of legislation that will positively impact the lives of Nevadans. At the same time, we were able to defeat some pieces of legislation that could have been hazardous for our constituents. All in all, I am proud to have had the opportunity to stand up and fight for the residents of Assembly District 3.
It gives me great pride to share that three of the bills I sponsored were signed into law.
Below is a recap of the bills I sponsored this session.
