Wow - It seems like just yesterday, that with the help of incredible friends like you, I was elected into the Nevada State Assembly. My experience during the 78th Legislative Session was both challenging and rewarding.
Together, we were able to pass landmark pieces of legislation that will positively impact the lives of Nevadans. At the same time, we were able to defeat some pieces of legislation that could have been hazardous for our constituents. All in all, I am proud to have had the opportunity to stand up and fight for the residents of Assembly District 3.
It gives me great pride to share that three of the bills I sponsored were signed into law.
Below is a recap of the bills I sponsored this session.

Nelson Araujo announces Candidacy for Assembly District 3
(Las Vegas) - Today, Nelson Araujo announced his candidacy in Assembly District 3. Nelson was born and raised in Las Vegas, and was the first in his family to graduate high school and university.
"I'm excited to work with Nelson on his race in Assembly District 3," said Speaker of the Assembly Marilyn Kirkpatrick. "At a relatively young age Nelson has already made a positive impact on his community. From the work he did in Senator Reid's office during the height of the foreclosure crisis, to his current work at the United Way, Nelson is an exceptional individual that understands the meaning of community service."
"I am a proud Nevada native, and graduate of UNLV," said Nelson Araujo. "As the first person in my family to graduate high school and college nothing is more important to me than ensuring children have access to a quality education in our state. I understand the challenges that many Nevada families face and I want to be a part of the solutions that strengthen our community."
Nelson Araujo currently works at the United Way of Southern Nevada as Senior Director of the Las Vegas Healthy Communities Coalition. He started his career working in the office of U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, where he assisted in the establishment and management of the Senator's statewide foreclosure prevention assistance efforts. Nelson volunteers for various organizations, and is the former Political Committee Co-Chairperson for the Las Vegas chapter of the Human Rights Campaign.
